"OSANPO Series no " bottled for the Highlander Inn Chichibu

This captivating single malt whisky comes from the Ardbeg distillery in the eastern part of Islay. It features Islay's signature smoky peat aroma, yet boasts a depth of flavor that belies its young age.  This is a rare Islay release vs the usual Speyside which is released by Highlander Inn.  Label design was requested by Yoshida of Malume Design, a designer living in Chichibu.

Tasting Notes from Mingawa-san:

Aroma: An iodine note reminiscent of a refreshing sea breeze and a subtle sweetness of adzuki beans. Fresh citrus aromas are complemented by a savory shellfish broth flavor.


Taste: A dry finish is gradually followed by a fresh citrus acidity. A crisp salty finish and the slightly bitter taste of bitter orange add accents. The creamy umami of clams and ample minerality enhance the finish.


Finish: The aromas of seaweed, oyster shells, and the seashore blend together, leaving a pleasant lingering mellow lactic acid and fresh, milky finish.
