Milroy's of Soho has released the Soho Selection . For this particular series, Milroy's are looking for the more unusual, more modern expressions that show good whisky can come at any age.
Highland single malt distillery Glen Ord is perhaps best known for its associations with The Singleton – but it is a tremendous whisky in its own right, too. Part of our Soho Selection series, this ex-bourbon cask expression was distilled back in 2012. Juicy and aromatic, it offers an abundance of orchard and tropical fruit notes, alongside blossom florals and darker burnt caramel. Beautiful.
Nose: Juicy and aromatic, the nose opens with pear, apple, nectarine and citrus peel notes, ahead of elderflower, iced buns, rhubarb and custard boiled sweets, and freshly cut grass. Cherry blossom and shortbread also shine.
Palate: Medium bodied and awash with tropical fruit, the palate brings in papaya and pineapple, alongside richer, earthier notes. There are hints of oak spices and darker florals, alongside oilier, burnt caramel tones.
Finish: Medium to long, with drying oak and a development of aromatic florals.
