Milroy's of Soho has released the Soho Selection . For this particular series, Milroy's are looking for the more unusual, more modern expressions that show good whisky can come at any age.
The Caol Ila 12 Years Old is a peated single malt Scotch whisky distilled on October 6, 2010, and aged for 12 years exclusively in a single first-fill Premier Cru Classé wine barrique.
Nose: A bold burst of salty peat smoke, accompanied by intense minerality and maritime accents. Vibrant citrus notes follow, layered over a backdrop of ash and barbecue, with smoked plums and dark chocolate adding delightful complexity.
Palate: Surprisingly sweet and smooth at first, with hints of salted caramel and toffee balanced by a light oiliness. Smoked plums, raisins, and candied cherries emerge, complemented by notes of charcoal and burnt wood reminiscent of a roaring campfire.
Finish: Long and enveloping, with the return of peat smoke blending with dried fruit and caramel. The maritime character and minerality linger, leaving a warm, spicy memory on the lips.
