Milroy's of Soho has released the Soho Selection . For this particular series, Milroy's are looking for the more unusual, more modern expressions that show good whisky can come at any age.
Campbeltown whiskies are known for their funky character, and while that’s a factor here, there’s lots more going on, too. A blended malt from the renowned Scotch whisky region, this Soho Selection bottling brings together bright fruit elements along with crisp salinity and baking spices. It’s a whisky with a bold personality – and it’s all the more delicious for it.
Nose: Initially more subtle than one might expect for a Campbeltown release, there’s initially a fresh grassiness along with citrus peels, warm cereals and liquorice on the nose. These develop into deep coffee, subtle nutmeg, mace and cumin spices, with pear, elastoplast, and even buttered sourdough emerges. That briny character is in there, too.
Palate: Orange peels make their presence immediately felt on the palate, before figs, plums, dates and raisins lift through. The salinity continues with salted caramel sat alongside pecorino cheese and quince. Warming vanilla pods bring additional sweetness and complexity.
Finish: Medium length with drying chilli spice and more of that mouthwatering bready quality.
